Kale is a Superfood
So I know you all view us as the world's best workout music... but push pause on your workout playlist for like a few seconds and let's talk about kale as a super food.
Kale is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. It literally has EVERYTHING in it... Seriously, this isn't going to be a very long blog post because Kale is literally the king of the veggies. Okay so let me get started on telling you why everyone is going crazy for kale.
1 cup of Kale contains
Calories: 7.2
Fat: 0.3g
Sodium: 10.9mg
Carbohydrates: 0.9g
Fiber: 0.8g
Sugars: 0.2g
Protein: 0.6g
Vitamin A: 49.6mcg
Vitamin K: 80.3mcg
Vitamin C: 19.2mg
Potassium: 71.7mg
Calcium: 52.3mg
basically it doesn't make you gain weight... it gives you energy all at a very low calorie cost, plus contains all the vitamins and nutrients required for muscle growth and cell level reproduction and repair. It's crazy how effective it is at freaking everything.
So the toughest part is like, okay now that we have kale in our diets... eating kale can seem sometimes very mundane and crappy. It takes forever, it's very dry, it almost feels like torture getting it in... the best way that we've found to make it happen is through smoothies... you have to offset the dry, bland flavor with some sort of other good stuff to make it tolerable. BUT when you do... it can be an amazing experience in terms of recovery and muscle building. So our first recommendation is Kale-aid... which is a combination of kale, pineapple, water and stevia. Super simple to make in a nutri-bullet or in a vitamix blender but basically what you want to do is grab a handful of kale, put it in the blender, then grab a couple pieces of pineapple, then cover the kale and pineapple in water, then grab organic stevia, (note try to find an organic stevia that doesn't contain dextrose which is sugar... that's cheating yourself on workout gains, AND stevia that doesn't have a weird after taste... they do exist...) buy that organic stevia in packets and put in 3-4 packets. So an interesting tid bit about stevia is that it is an organic all natural sweetener and actually comes form a stevia leaf. It's 1.25 times sweeter than sugar and actually tastes a lot better.... well 1.25 times better... now there are some that say that stevia has a bad after taste and I have experienced that with some company's BUT that doesn't mean that EVERY company is that way... we have found a lot of organic stevia products that don't have the weird after taste... I don't know what that weird after taste is... but it is terrible... we're at least willing to admit that. We agree with you... BUT... please don't let that taint your view of stevia... that's like driving a ford car and when it breaks down and being like, well we are going back to horses because cars aren't the right solution... and me saying... nah there's general motors, toyotta, chevy, cadallac, chrystler, dodge, kia, tesla, etc... there's so many other companies that you could be trying!
Now without further ado, let me, let you, get back to the best workout music. You are now safe to put your headphones back in, crank that volume and continue on listening to the best workout playlist known to man which obviously IS Murph Workout Radio.
